"Freedom of the hills" is a concept that combines the simple joy of being in the mountains with the skill, gear, and strength to travel where we will without harm to ourselves, others, or the environment.
This book, with its roots in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, champions this freedom by providing information for climbers of all levels, from novice to advanced. It represents the combined experiences of many climbers, who have traveled most of the major mountain ranges on earth. This does not make it gospel.
